Hundreds of sweaters and Christmas gifts were distributed to 141 orphans and disabled children in a ceremony by the Heng’ai Action in Haikou Social Welfare Institution, in south China’s Hainan Province on December 24, 2013.

"We spread the philosophy of ‘Please ourselves by helping others’ at the event, and advocated more charitable units and persons devoted themselves to welfare for children," said Vice President of Hainan Women’s Federation Li Youwu.

In attendance at the launch ceremony were representatives from the Department of Civil Affairs of Hainan Province, Haikou Women’s Federation, media and charitable persons.

The Heng’ai Action was originally launched by the China Children and Teenagers’ Foundation (CCTF) and the Hengyuanxiang Group in 2005, and aims to encourage people to donate warm clothing such as sweaters to orphans and disabled children across the country. Fifteen hundred home-knitted sweaters have been knitted by 1,000 loving parents and loving sisters since its launch in Hainan Province in August.
