The Hainan government hosted a press conference on 6th November in Beijing to announce the launch of new measures aimed at simplifying the travel procedures for cross-border cruise tours.

Officials from the Hainan government, the Ministry of Public Security, the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, and managers from a number of cruise liners and travel agencies attended the press conference.

The measures, part of efforts by the Hainan government to boost cruise tourism, will allow Chinese citizens to apply for permits for cross-border cruise tours from Hainan at frontier inspection departments in Hainan, which will avoid the inconvenience of applying for the permits at their registered place of residence.

Procedures for permits will also be simplified, and the time needed for approval will be greatly shortened.
