Several members from the LET, LAGT and China LPGA took time out from their preparations for the Sanya Ladies Open to visit Hou Hai School in Hainan Province, China.

LET members Smriti Mehra, Holly Aitchison, Danielle Montgomery, Stephanie Na, Leigh Whittaker, Jia Yun Li and the 2012 Sanya Ladies Open champion Cassandra Kirkland spent time playing table tennis, basketball and other play ground games with the students, before giving the children gifts.

The school has 316 students, 200 of which live at the school supported with a small amount of government funding. The youngest student is 5 years old and the oldest is 13. There are 41 teachers at the school to support and teach the students.

Smriti Mehra said: “I don’t like school but I love kids. If it was up to me they would never be in the classroom but outside all day.”

Although the school receives funding from local tourism, it also receives charity donations, which have facilitated the construction of a new library among other amenities.
