Hainan Tourism Development Commission said during a conference on 21st October that the new clearance system in Sanya, which aims to simplify cruise travel procedures for passengers, has recently successfully passed the checks of the Ministry of Public Security, and is expected to put into operation within the year.

The move, which is one of the measures taken by the local government to promote the development of the cruise tourism industry, will allow any Chinese citizens to apply for permits for cross-border cruise tours at Sanya frontier inspection departments and avoid the inconvenience of applying for the permits at their registered place of residence.

Hainan has enjoyed a remarkable growth in its cruise tourism in recent years.

Chen Tiejun, the deputy director of the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, said more cross-border cruise tour routes between Hainan and neighboring countries such as Vietnam will be launched between the end of October and April 2014, with the number of passengers expected to reach 100,000.
