The road section between Shimei Bay and Dahuajiao in Wanning City spans 35 km in length.
 
As part of Hainan’s focus on improving the province’s tourism infrastructure, it will invest 14.1 billion yuan to build over 679 km of international tourism-oriented roads by 2015.

The roads will connect numerous tourist attractions to serve as a green coastal corridor integrating tourism, sightseeing and recreation.

Two road sections listed as demonstration projects under construction are the Shimei Bay to Dahuajiao in Wanning and Dongjiao to Longlou in Wenchang stretches.

The road section of Shimei Bay to Dahuajiao in Wanning City, which spans 35 km in length, has received a total investment of 100 million yuan. The road will connect the tourist attractions along the eastern coastline, with a series of functional sites including commercial shops, slow-traffic lanes, leisure coffee cafes and RV camping sites to be built along the journey to bring convenience for bicycle and motor-vehicle tourists alike.

According to the plan, the tourism-oriented roads which weave around the entire island will stretch over 1,000 km by 2020.
