The rock 'n' roll-themed chain plans to open its first hotels in China in about three years, starting with hotels in Shenzhen and Haikou, the report says.

The Hard Rock Shenzen property will have 280 guest rooms, a fitness center and sit on almost 10 acres. Also planned: A nightclub and – interestingly – a recording studio. (Talk about a fun concept for groups, birthday revelers and teenagers!)

The Hard Rock Haikou, located on Hainan Island off the southeast coast of China, will have 250 rooms on an eight-acre site.

The chain signed a deal with China-based Mission Hills, which now oversees three luxury resorts in China that emphasize golf.

According to Travel Weekly, chain owner Seminole Hard Rock Entertainment now has 140 restaurants and 18 hotel-casinos around the world. It will open hotels in Mexico's Riviera Maya next year, and in Abu Dhabi in 2014.

Mission Hills has signed its own deal with Ritz-Carlton to open a 201-room resort in Haikou in late 2013, Travel Weekly says.
