According to Hainan Tourism Development Commission, Hainan received a total of 19.7326 million overnight tourists in the January-July period of 2013, up 9.5% compared to the same period in the previous year, generating around 20.855 billion yuan of tourism revenue, an increase of 14.3% year-on-year.

From January to July, 13 out of the 18 cities and counties in the Hainan province enjoyed a double-digit growth in the number of overnight tourists.

Baisha ranked first across the province with a year-on-year increase of 56%, followed by Tunchang with a year-on-year increase of 51.9%, Ding’an with 33.8%, Changjiang with 34.4%, Qiongzhong with 27.1%, Chengmai with 22.4%, Zhanzhou with 16.8%, Wuzhishan with 15.5%, and Baoting with 14.3%.

Figures released show that cities and counties in central and western Hainan province enjoyed the highest year-on-year growth.

The Hainan province has set its tourism revenue target for 2013 at 42.8 billon yuan, an increase of 13% year-on-year. The growth target for the number of overnight tourists visiting the province in 2013 is 10%.
