Hainan is to implement government defined prices for hotel rooms in major tourism areas including Haikou, Sanya, Baoting, Qionghai and Waning during the National Day holiday, according to the Commodity Price Control Bureau of Hainan province.

According to the measures, during the National Day holiday (1st -7th October), hotel room rates in the major tourism areas are not allowed to be more than 50 percent higher than the rates before the National Day holiday, and cannot be more than 10 percent higher than the weighted average rates of the same period in the previous year.

The hotel room rates offered during the National Day holiday must be registered at local price control departments and listed on their official websites.

Hotels wishing to charge more than the government guided prices during the holiday must gain the approval of provincial price control departments.
