The number of tourists leaving Hainan has this year been greater than that of those visiting the province, according to Hainan Statistic Bureau.

Statistics released by the Hainan Statistic Bureau show that, from January-June 2013, the overall passenger throughput of Hainan province reached 21.5414 million, of which 10.9861 million were tourists leaving the province, and 10.553 million tourists arriving in the province.

The passenger throughput of the ports reached 6.8903 milllion, of which 3.3752 million were tourists leaving the province, and 3.3151 million tourists visiting the province.

The passenger throughput of airports hit 14.6511 million, of which 7.2403 million were tourists visiting the province, and 7.4109 million tourists leaving the province.

The number of tourists leaving the province was therefore 4.08 percent higher than the number of those visiting the province.

This indicates that local residents are increasingly inclined to travel to places outside of the province, according to the Hainan Statistics Bureau.
