The value of Hainan’s exports hit 2.18 billion USD from Jan-Jul 2013, up 33.4% compared to the same period of last year, according to Haikou Customs.

The rate of growth was 9.5% higher than the national average of 23.9%, and 5th highest across the country.

Figures released by Haikou Customs show that exports of petroleum products reached a value of 680 million USD from Jan-Jul, a year-on-year increase of 64.7%.Meanwhile, exports of High-tech products hit 420 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%, and exports of paper products hit 150million yuan, a remarkable year-on year increase of 90.6%. However, exports of agricultural products dropped to 340 million USD, down 6% year-on-year.

According to Haikou Customs, the refinery and paper manufacturing sectors were responsible for a great deal of the overall growth.
