Year’s 11th tropical storm Utor will not pose great impact to Hainan
According to the Hainan Provincial Weather Forecast, the tropical storm Utor, which battered northern parts of the Philippines on Monday, is expected to make a landfall in Taishan, Guangdong on the Wednesday noon, but it will not pose a great impact to Hainan.
On 5:00am this morning, Utor, the 11th tropical storm of this year, was spotted on the 200km southeast of the coastal areas of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province.
The storm is forecast to move northwestward at a speed of 20 km per hour and with wind gusts of 42mph. The storm is expected to create waves as high as 11 metres (36 feet) in the north of the South China Sea from Tuesday night into Wednesday.
The tropical storm would bring gales and heavy rains to coastal areas of China, including Guangdong, Hong Kong and Hainan over the next 24 hours.
