The annual Water-splashing Festival kicked off in Hainan’s Baoting on Monday. 

As the Chinese traditional Qixi Festival, also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day, falls on 13th August this year, the water-splashing festival this year will showcase a series of Li and Miao ethnic cultural activities including a water-splashing parade, a Li ethic concert, a Li and Miao ethnic traditional sports game, a dragon boat race and a Li brocade weaving competition.

The water-splashing Festival is an annual grand traditional festival celebrated by the Li and Miao Ethnic Groups in Hainan. It has become an important cultural attraction for Hainan.

The festival is also an important activity for cross-strait ethnic cultural exchange.

The Water-splashing Festival this year will last from the 12th to 14th of August.
