President of Hainan Women’s Federation Liu Jin presented gift money and items to Wu Haibo, a needy patient at the Hainan Provincial People’s Hospital, on August 8, 2013.
 
Wu, originally from Nankai Village in south China’s Hainan Province, is suffering from malnutrition due to a severely corroded esophagus that was caused by her accidentally drinking glycerol in September 2011. Her family has spent almost all their money paying for her medical treatment.
 
Liu presented Wu with 10,000 yuan (US$1,635) and encouraged her to face life with strength and courage. Liu added that the Hainan Women’s Federation would keep a close eye on Wu’s situation and provide her with the support she needs.
