Baoting is among China’s top ten eco-friendly cities, according to Chinese City Rankings launched by China Radio International,with support from China's Ministry of Culture, National Tourism Administration, and the Information Office of the State Council.

The ranking was based on field investigations and worldwide internet voting in multiple languages. The profiles of the cities taking part in the campaign were presented on the event webpage for the reference of internet users across the world who wanted to vote for the best eco-city in China.

A total of 14,423,985 votes were received by the end of July, of which 79% were from foreign countries.

According to the ranking, the top ten eco-friendly cities in China are Guiyang, Weihai, Xiamen, Chengde, Beihai, Xichang, Yingtan, Erguna, Zixing and Baoting.

An award ceremony is to be held in September, according to reports.
