China Environmental Monitoring Center recently released a ranking report of 113 domestic cities in terms of air quality in the first half of this year. According to the report, the air quality in Haikou ranks best among the Chinese cities.

The report used collected data from 700 national air quality monitoring stations in 113 cities based on the levels of the annual average sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide as well as particles release in the city.

According to the report, the air quality in 79 cities had reached the national first level quality standard and 33 cities air quality is reported to exceed the national quality standards.

The report also shows that Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is the worst city for air quality in China..
