1,000-ton-class surveillance ship launched in Hainan

Hainan’s first 1000-ton class marine surveillance ship, China Marine Surveillance Ship Number 2168, was launched in Guangzhou’s Huangpu on Wednesday, according to the Hainan provincial marine and fishery department.
The surveillance ship, which is said to be the biggest and most advanced surveillance ship in Hainan, will greatly improve Hainan’s patrolling and law enforcement ability in the South China Sea, according to the Hainan provincial marine and fishery department.
Construction of the ship began in July 2012 in Guangzhou’s Huangpu and lasted around 12 months.
The ship is 79.9 meters long and 10.6 meters wide, with a displacement of 1,337 tons, a maximum speed of 20 knots , a range of over 5,000 nautical miles and a holding force of 30 days. It will carry a crew of 43.
