A Chinese-language version of the classic musical Mamma Mia will be held on stage in Haikou.

The musical, scheduled to be performed at Hainan Grand Theater this November, forms part of the province's 'Haikou in Spring' Tourism Arts Festival, the organizers said Tuesday in a press release.

Since its debut in Shanghai, July last year, the Chinese version of Mamma Mia has organized 191 shows within in the cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, according to the release.

Mamma Mia, a stage musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, tells the tale of a young woman on a quest to discover the identity of her true father.

The 2nd Haikou in Spring' Tourism Arts Festival will kick off October 16th and will last 5 months. Organized by China Arts and Entertainment Group, the festival will include 30 performances such as symphony concerts and musicals.
