The sales volume of Hainan's two duty-free stores enjoyed rapid growth in the first half of 2013.

According to Haikou Customs, In the first half of 2013, the sales volume of Hainan’s two duty-free stores, located in Sanya and Haikou respectively, was 1.77 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 50%. A total of 2.347 million of duty-free items were sold in the two offshore duty-free stores, a year-on-year increase of 22.63%. The number of customers who shopped in the stores reached 589,000, a year-on-year increase of 4.62%

The Sanya duty-free store accounted for almost 85 percent of the total sales volume, with its sales volume surging to 14.8 billion yuan.

Sales of goods with a worth over 8000 yuan enjoyed a sharp growth of 240%, with a total sales volume of 279 million yuan, according to Haikou Customs.
