Of the 10 most leisure cities, 8 of them are southern cities. Due to the warmer climates and more beautiful urban environments, people living in those cities are inclined to devote more time to leisure activities.

By contrast, seven of the top ten happiness cities are in northern China. The feelings of individual happiness of these northern cities are likely to be affected by other elements like leisure hours and health in the future.

Four of the cities like Lhasa, Chongqing, Taiyuan and Changsha appear on both lists at the same time. In addition to the fact that their citizens are earning relatively high incomes, they are spending a significant part on leisure pursuits.
