Hainan receives around 16.97 million overnight visitors in first half of 2013
Hainan enjoyed double-digit growth in both its domestic tourism revenue and international tourism revenue in the first half of 2013, according to statistics released by authorities.
Statistics show that in the first half of 2013 Hainan received a total of around 16.97 million visitors, an increase of 8.9% compared to the same period of last year. Domestic tourism generated around 17 billion yuan of revenue, a year-on-year increase of 17.2%, while international tourism generated around 178 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%.
Statistics also show that in the first half of 2013, areas in central Hainan province enjoyed the highest growth in the number of overnight visitors out of all areas in the province, with the number of overnight visitors reaching around 1 million, a year-on-year increase of 30.2%, 15.3% higher than that of the western areas of Hainan province, and 24.9% higher than that of the northern areas of Hainan province.
Baisha county topped all cities and counties across Hainan with hugely impressive growth of 78%.
