According to recent statistics from Hainan Tourism Development Committee, Hainan received 75,700 overnight visitors from Taiwan from January to June 2013, signaling that Taiwan has surpassed Russia to become the largest inbound tourist market of Hainan.

In the first half of the year, Hainan received a total of nearly 17 million overnight visitors including 406,200 inbound tourists, up 8.9% and 3.4% from the same period of last year.

Among the 406,200 inbound tourists were 75,700 Taiwanese tourists, 69,700 Russian tourists and 47,700 Hong Kong tourists, and the number of Russian and Hong Kong tourists declined by 29.6% and 9.7% from the same period of last year, while Taiwan tourist numbers increased by 1.5% over the same period of last year.

In the second half of the year, Hainan is going to make more efforts to promote its tourism in Taiwan's tourist market, and a Hainan tourism promotion conference will be held in Taiwan this August.
