Hainan Airlines set to begin direct Chengdu-Beijing flights in August

Lucky Air (8L, Dali City) has submitted an application to the CAAC Southwest Regional Administration for the establishment of a new hub at Chengdu. Should the application be successful, it would be the second HNA Group subsidiary to operate out of the airport after Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou).
Lucky Air sees Chendgu as an integral part in its expansion strategy which will see three aircraft based there. Among the carrier's plans for the airport is a daily direct flight to Lijiang starting July 1. With the CAAC's recent relaxation of laws regulating China's domestic market, several airlines have expressed their intention to develop Chengdu as a hub.
Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou), China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) have both applied, with Hainan Airlines set to begin direct B787-8 Chengdu to Beijing Capital flights in August.
