Hainan provincial tourism authority has published the result of its tourist satisfaction survey for the first half of 2013.

The study was conducted at scenic spots, restaurants, hotels, duty-free shops, bus stations, ports and a total of 4,000 tourists were involved.

The survey showed that 51.27% of the tourists coming to Hainan for travel expect to spend 3,000 yuan per person per visit. 28.01% expect to spend between 3,000 and 4,000 yuan, and 14.89% to spend between 4,000 and 5,000 yuan. And only 8.37% plan to spend above 5,000 yuan.

As for accommodation, 32.83% tourists responded by saying they would stay at 4-star hotels while 19.7% claimed they would choose to stay at 5-star resorts.

In terms of the most desired tour products on the island, 58.31% said they would choose ocean sightseeing tours (including diving tours) and 50.07% look to tropical rainforest tours.

Besides, 53.56% of mainland tourists look to individual tours and self-driving tours, higher than the proportion for group tours.

The survey is designed to give feedback and reference tools to be used by local tourism authorities to carry out related tourism polices and to improve tourism facilities and services
