Hainan Airlines to boost its presence out of Chengdu
Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou Meilan International (HAK)) is looking to boost its presence in South Western China through the establishment of new hub out of Chengdu Shuangliu International (CTU).
According to Chinese media, Hainan Airlines vice president, Hou Wei, has already met with officials from the CAAC Southwest Regional Administration to discuss the matter.
Hainan currently commands a paltry 5% market share in Chengdu; a situation that could worsen with the CAAC's recent drive to liberalize licence issuance in China and that has since seen "several carriers" expressing interest in setting up shop in Chengdu.
