The results of an online poll to find China’s top 20 ecological cities were released recently and Baoting County was the only city in Hainan on the list due to its effective measures for protection of ecological resources, livable eco environment and rapidly developing eco tourism sector.

The online selection event, known as "2013 Chinese City Rankings – Top Chinese Ecological Cities," was hosted by China Radio International, who have successfully held the selections of Top Chinese Tourist Cities, Top Chinese Cultural Cities and Top Chinese Creativity Cities since 2010.

After careful selection by a group of experts, 20 cities were nominated including Baoting, Weihai, Yantai, Chengde, Xiamen, Guiyang, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Huzhou, Haining, Beihai and Pu’er.

On July 31, the ten ecological cities that have bagged the highest number of online votes will be crowned the top Chinese Ecological Cities.
