Chinese President Xi Jinping had discussions with 32 Chinese and foreign business leaders at the 12th Annual Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) 2013 on April 8.

Mr. Xi, who became president last month, said at the meeting “China will protect the lawful rights and interests of foreign-invested companies and ensure their rights to equal participation in government procurement and independent innovation".

"China will never close its door to the outside world," he said. "Now that we have opened the door we will not close it, not now and not in the future."

The 32 Chinese and foreign business leaders Mr. Xi met at the BFA included the director of BFA and Japan’s Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, the president of Thailand Reignwood Group Yan Bin, the president of China Southern Power Grid Co. Ltd Zhao Jianguo, the director of Japanese Toshiba Co., Ltd Taizo Nishimuro, the Chief Executive Officer of China Power International Development Limited Li Xiaolin, the Chairman of HNA Group Chen Feng and the leaders of Japanese Mitsubishi Co., American Mars Company, Hainan Bo’ao Lecheng Development Holdings Ltd., Japanese Tokyo Auto Company, Hongkong Tianda Group, China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company, the Netherland’s Unilever, S. Korean Ku Mho ASIANA Group, Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group, German EVONIK Group and many other domestic and international businesses.
