A man surrendered to police and confessed to killing five and wounding one Tuesday morning in two separate attacks in south China's Hainan Province.

Chen Huangye, 36, killed one women and her son and wounded a 10-year-old girl at a food market in Dazhipo Town, Haikou City, the provincial capital, at about 6 a.m., local police said in a statement.
 
He then gave himself up to police and told them he had killed another woman and her two sons earlier in the day, at about 4 a.m., in another town, Wenchang City.

Chen is a migrant worker from central China's Hunan Province.

Police are investigating the cases.
