China and Russia kicked off the "Tourism Year of China" in Moscow last Friday. Hainan, as the second-largest tourism destination in the Asia-Pacific region for Russian tourists, plans to offer more great tours for Russian tourists in the year of 2013.

Russia has been the largest overseas tourists market of Hainan for the last 5 consecutive years, since 2008.

To date, 13 Russian cities including Moscow and St. Petersburg have been running chartered flights to Hainan.

The Hainan government has also launched a visa-free policy for Russian tourists, who are allowed to stay in Hainan for 21 days.

Hainan welcomed a total of 220,000 Russian tourists in 2011 and 191,900 in 2012 despite the European financial crisis.

With the successful promotion of themed tourism products such as coastal vacation tourism and traditional Chinese medicine tours, Hainan will give a greater focus to promoting its wedding tourism by combining marine tourism, eco-tourism, folklore tourism and golf & hot spring tourism in the Russian market this year.
