Hainan to take measures to boost marine industry in 2013
Hainan will hasten the infrastructure construction supporting its near-shore fishing industry, leisure fishing tourism development and fishing capacity in the South China Sea in an attempt to develop its marine economy.
As the current fishing industry is very traditional, a stronger fleet of high-tonnage 200 fishing vessels will be built to explore the deep-sea in the South China Sea.
The government will also accelerate the construction of fishing ports at major coastal cities to promote modern processing and logistic industries and develop the deep-sea fishing industry.
The newly established city enjoys several advantages favorable to green development, Jiang said, including that the green projects on Yongxing Island include sewage disposal, waste collection and transfer stations and seawater desalination facilities.
