With various prices increases, the cost of visiting Hainan during the Spring Festival will increase nearly 30%.

Flights and hotels may be the most expensive parts of the trip, and the General Manager of one hotel in Bo'ao Town said that the hotel room rates during this year’s Spring Festival are up 10% over the previous year, and 50% over regular times of the year.

And the hotel room rates in Haikou will rise about 20% during the spring festival based on the current situation.

According to the statistics from online travel websites, most air tickets to Hainan are full priced for February, and economy class seats for some of the flights from Beijing to Sanya have been sold out at full price, while tickets from Nanjing, Wuhan and Chengdu to Hainan are all full price, and only a few have a 20% discount.

Domestic media reported that a 5-day Hainan tour package with a return air ticket from Suzhou was quoted at 6,690 yuan on Feb.10, but 4,990 yuan on Feb.7. And a 5-day private tour to Sanya will cost from 4,700 to 9,000 yuan during the period from Feb.10 to 13. However, the price falls to around 6,000 yuan on Feb.17.

Therefore, travel agency insiders suggested that the travel cost to Hainan is most expensive during the period from Feb.10 to 16, which means tourists can book their group’s travel in advance or delay the order to avoid the peak period.
