Herbert Laubichler-Pichler appointed as General Manager of Raffles Hainan
Herbert Laubichler-Pichler has been appointed as General Manager of Raffles Hainan, China. Opening in Spring 2013, it is Raffles’ second hotel in China after Raffles Beijing Hotel.

Herbert Laubichler-Pichler has an exceptional track record working within the luxury hotel industry in Asia. He moves to Raffles Hainan from Shangri-La Resort and Spa, Cebu in the Philippines where he served as its General Manager. Prior to this, he worked for Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur where in 2011; the hotel won Trip Advisor Travellers’ Choice Award of the top Luxury Hotel in Malaysia. During his tenure in Kuala Lumpur, he was also a Board Member of the Malaysian Association of Hotels and Chairman of the Research and Development Committee of the Malaysian Association of Hotels.
He began his career in his native Germany at Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski in Munich and worked his way through the ranks until his appointment as General Manager of Dorint Congress Hotel in Neuss in 1997. From here, he became the Area General Manager for Hotel Schloss Fuschl and Arabella Sheraton Hotel Jagdhof, Salzburg in Austria from 1998 – 2004.
In 2004, he became the General Manager of The Annabelle Hotel in Pafos, Cyprus before he moved east in 2005 to become the General Manager of The Saujana and The Club at The Saujana, Kuala Lumpur. Herbert led the successful rebranding of The Club at The Saujana into a Leading Hotel of the World and then was General Manager at The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam.
