According to the reporter, Haikou–the capital city of Hainan province–has witnessed a great number of newly opened, wine shops in mixed type. In some big-scale hypermarkets of Haikou, wines have higher status than before. Many hypermarkets even set a exclusive sales counter for imported wines. Wine prices are more of plebification. The salerooms for imported wine in hypermarkets grow by 50% yearly.

However, comsumer market for wine is still in big distance with that for traditional Chinese distilled spirits. According to the introduction, Haikou wine market at present is in good order of market regulation, rarely emerging counterfeits and label-sticking wines; most of wines are with good quality and from standard sources.

In the future two years, wine economy will keep steady and rapid growth. Because of construction of the international tourism island–Hainan, wine appraisal and culture is propelled and wine consumer group will extented.
