The Danzhou City, Hainan Province is planning to build 17 scenery towns with different characteristics within 3 three years, the Secretary of Danzhou City Zhang Qi said while attending the 18th NPC.

 

The announcement comes as the ongoing NPC report highlighted that China needs to effectively develop urbanization to resolve issues concerning agriculture, rural areas and farmers.

 

Danzhou is an agriculture-dominated city in Hainan, of which 60% population living at the countryside. Zhang said the development of scenery towns in Danzhou over the next 3 years will greatly assist city’s urbanization process.

 

Currently, the Guangcun Town and Dongcheng Town in Danzhou have been built into a modern cigar town and modern ecological tourism base respectively.

 

These towns, actively exploring international standards with local characteristics, will be another drawing card for Hainan tourism.
