Hainan’s Xisha Islands ready for cruise tours
The Secretary of Hainan Government, Mr Luo Baoming, has said that the Xisha Islands are now gearing up for cruise tours and they are considering a date to mark the occasion.
Since last year, the Hainan tourism authorities have begun working on proposals to develop tourism on the Xisha Islands with details covering the islands capacity for tourists, vehicle traffic on the island and regulations for environment conservation.
The tourism development of the Xisha Islands will mainly rely on cruise tours; flight tours may also be introduced.
According to the government, other plans for tours of the surrounding offshore uninhabited islands will be organized shortly after the successful tourism exploration on Xisha Islands.
At present, the cruise route from Haikou or Sanya to the north reefs of Xisha Islands and its surrounding regions have been set, and will be operated by the cruise ship ‘Coconut Princess'.
