With the SWATCH GIRLS PRO CHINA 2012 hosted by Wanning a mere fortnight away, organizers are delighted to announce four wildcards into the event, underlining their continued support for surfing in the Far East. Swatch wildcards Darci Liu, 26, and Monica Gua, 22, as well as local trials winner Xue Yuan, 24, make up a trio from Hainan Island, who alongside Taiwan's Wen Ling Chou, 23, will be representing their local surfing communities among a field of elite athletes from across the globe competing for the 2012 ASP Women's Longboard World Title.

Darci Liu, who has opened her own surf shop and promotes surf lessons to local beachgoers is returning as a wildcard, after being invited to the inaugural event in 2011. "I learned so much from the girls last year and was really inspired by their per-formance. Since then I've competed in local events on the island and taught over a hundred people to surf, our scene is growing every day. I feel really honoured to be awarded the wildcard, I want to represent my country and show the world that China is a great place to surf."

Monica Gua will be making her first appearance in a professional competition, after attending last year as a spectator. "I was so impressed by the level of the girls in 2011, they were dancing on their boards, hanging ten, I learned a lot from watching them. For me it is a huge honour to be invited, I just want to surf with all the great competitors, have fun, and hopefully represent my country well. The sport is still young here but it is growing all the time. The local kids are excited about it and it is really satisfying to show them about this great and healthy lifestyle to be had through being a surfer."

The SWATCH GIRLS PRO CHINA 2012 hosted by Wanning will take place on the left hand pointbreak of Riyuewan Bay on the Wanning coast, which receives consistent northeast swells from the South China Sea from October through to March. With the swell season already getting underway and reports of some fun days already hitting the contest venue, stay tuned for forecasts updates, and the latest news in the event website www.swatchgirlspro.com
