3.5-magnitude earthquake recorded in Wanning, Hainan
A 3.5-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Wanning city on the evening of November 5th. Based on a report released by the Seismological Bureau of Hainan province, no devastating earthquakes will occur in and around the city in the near future.
According to previous reports, a 5-magnitude earthquake hit Wanning in 1999. There have been wide-spread reports of shaking houses and buildings after an earthquake at 19:51 on November 5th. With a depth of 3km, the earthquake’s epicentre was 18.6 degrees North latitude and 110.9 degrees West longitude.
Citizens felt continuous shaking for about two or three minutes, but no casualties have been reported in the city, according to the Wanning Seismological Bureau.
