Lindsay Steinriede to defend the ASP Women’s Longboard world title in Hainan
The finest female longboard riders in the world are making their final preparations before heading to the Far East.
While the incredible surfing potential of the Wanning coastline was being revealed to the surfing world, Lindsay was experiencing the defining moment of her career thus far.
"It was so amazing to win the world title in China," admits the California regular-foot. "With the pioneering nature of being the first pro event over there, the incredible buzz of discovery about the region and the wave, and just the awesome vibe among us competitors and the crowd, it all made winning the world title that much more special".
"The performance was super-impressive last year and I think pretty much the same girls will be in contention once again. Chelsea (Williams) will be hard to beat as the defending event champion and on her forehand, as will Kassia Meador".
Hainan Island is sometimes referred to as the "Chinese Hawaii" and it’s not a hard comparison to make. With lush tropical forests, white sand beaches, warm water and of course, quality surf breaks, the venue is ideal to allow the top female longboard talents to display their skills.
