Famers in Qionghai have been encouraged to plant more agarwood trees recently, as the city plans to build itself into a ‘garden city’.
At the moment, 1,000 agarwood trees have been planted in the city.
Further expansion of the city’s green spaces will also involve the plantation of more rosewood trees, Jackfruit trees and Camellia trees in each village. The hope is that this will not only improve the surrounding environment but will also become a valuable economic source for local residents.
In order to build a green city, Qionghai has carried out eight separate projects, including a village forest, road forest, suburban gardening and coastal forest.
The gardening and landscaping construction in Longshou Field is one of the green island campaigns to make Qionghai a grand garden city.
According to the plan the villages around Longshou Field will be turned into small parks, and more focus will be placed on upgrading the road network in order to transform the villages into a sightseeing landscape region. Aside from this, the government plans to transform the area into an agricultural demonstration zone by introducing a variety of vegetables and fruits.
