High-tech enterprises in Hainan enjoy rapid development

The Hainan government has recently attached great importance to the development of its high-tech industry. The move has been regarded as one of the major strategies for the city’s overall development.
As of 2011, 75 high-tech enterprises authorized by the State Council are now based in Hainan. These enterprises mainly concentrate on the fields of biological and new medicine, electronic information, new materials, resources and the environment, new energy and energy saving.
In order to encourage independent innovation, Hainan has also carried out a series of preferential policies to promote the development of strategic emerging industries and high-tech industries.
At present, in the hi-tech zones in Hainan there are 33 enterprises for which total yearly income from technology and trade exceeds 100 million yuan, which accounts for 44% of the total industry.
Since the Hainan International Creative Harbour, the first cultural creativity industry park in Hainan, was opened to public on April 1st last year, a total of 57 famous creative design companies from home and abroad have signed up and settled in the creative industry park, giving the project a total revenue of 163 billion yuan.
