The proposed new regulation will aim to protect Hainan ethnic groups’ cultures, which falls into ten categories, including the folk literature and art, festivals and celebrations, traditional sports and entertainment activities of ethnic groups, local-style dwelling houses, costumes and household utensils reflecting the production and living customs of various minorities, architectures and facilities with ethnic characteristics, manuscripts, ancient books and classics, documents, genealogical trees, steles, couplets of academic and artistic value, the knowledge and technique of the ethnic groups, craftsmanship and treasures of minorities.

To promote the exploration of the ethnic cultures, the regulation also will aim to develop special tour packages with ethnic cultural characteristics.
