Hainan is planning to expand network coverage in Sansha City on Yongxing Island and its surrounding islands.

The project, which was proposed by Hainan Telecommunication Management Bureau, includes the construction of 51 island base stations, 104 ship base stations and 8 sea-crossing cables.

The establishment of network coverage will better the service for local fishermen and tourists of the city. At the same time, it will help maintain the normal operation of military security, said Xue Liangyan, the Director of Hainan Telecommunication Managemet Bureau.

At present, China's three major telecom operators China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom have opened their Internet service centers in Sansha with a large coverage of Hainan Island, Xisha Islands and others in the South China Sea.
