World Travel & Tourism Council to launch special report on Hainan

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will launch ‘Hainan: Travel & Tourism Development Potential 2011–2021’, a special report on the Hainan Province, China at China Tang Restaurant, The Dorchester Hotel Park Lane on September 17, 2012 .
Primarily known for its coastline and beach resorts, Hainan is known as ‘Hawaii of the East’. David Scowsill, President and CEO, WTTC, and LU Zhiyuan, Assistant Governor, Hainan Province and Director General, Hainan Provincial Tourism Development Commission, will be the speakers at the event.
Total visitor arrivals in Hainan were almost 26 million in 2010, a growth of 14 per cent per annum in the 15 years from 1995. The direct contribution of Hainan’s Travel & Tourism is estimated at 8.5 per cent of China’s Gross Domestic Product, and it is expected to rise to 12.4 per cent in 2021. With an estimated 12.6 per cent average annual growth in tourism expenditure in 2011-2021, Hainan is expected to outperform other economies.
