Heavy rain is forecast to sweep most parts of China over the next three days, bringing gales and temperature drops, the country's meteorological authority said on Wednesday.

The nation's southern coastal regions will see moderate to heavy rain from Wednesday to Thursday, according to a statement posted on the website of the National Meteorological Center.

Parts of Guangdong and Hainan provinces as well as Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will even be hit by torrential rain, according to the statement.

Rain is also forecast to fall on the country's northern parts over the next three days, with rainstorms expected in some regions.

The weather authority suggested that drivers avoid low-lying and flood-prone roads amid rainy weather.
