The Hong Kong Hainanese Community Federation was inaugurated on September 1 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Numerous of Hong Kong Hainanese attended the opening ceremony.
 
The federation, consisting of 11 Hainan communities, now has more than 310,000 Hainan members.
 
Zhang Taichao, the president of the new federation said the federation will encourage its members to strengthen the social cohesion through the various cultural, educational, recreational, sporting, social and other community-based activities organized specially in the communities.
 
Besides serving as a communication channel to promote friendship and brotherhood amongst the Hainanese community in Hong Kong, the association will further play its role in stepping up the exchanges in terms of culture, tourism and trade on both sides.
