From now on, self-driving tourists visiting Hainan will find it easier as the provincial government has carried out regulations on a uniform appearance of tourist signs to direct tourists to sights and attractions.

According to the regulation, the tourist signs will follow the international convention with white lettering and white pictograms. In order to improve legibility for tourists, dual languages will be used.

30 types of tourist signs will be created with special designs for tourists to recognize. These signs are related to tourist places including golf resorts, natural reserves, hot springs, Li and Miao minority groups, yachting and cruise, tropical rainforests, folk-custom towns and so on

Besides, signs for some unique tourist attractions like Boao, Nanwan Monkey Island, Tianya Haijiao will be allowed to designed with their own characteristics.

Construction of the project is expected to start in September and will cover 18 cities and counties on the island (expressways included) and 145 scenic spots.
