Hainan is planning to build 400 km of new expressways this year to form a national mainline network, according to the Hainan Transportation Authority.
According to the plan, the expressways will have a mileage of 400 km with an estimated investment of 60 billion yuan. Construction of Qiongzhong-Wuzhishan-Ledong Expressway and Wanning-Danzhou-Yangpu Expressway are listed as the key projects.
To help improve the economic development of the central cities, construction on the tourism facilities will be added along the expressways.
Upon completion, the expressways are expected to greatly improve local transportation services and boost the local tourism industry as well.
The funds for road construction will come primarily from bank loans, national financial subsidy, provincial financial investment and private sectors.
