Hainan sees declining number of Ningbo tourists in summer
While summer tourism is heating up in Ningbo, the number of tourists visiting Hainan is sliding downwards, reports cnnb.com.cn.
"Only 1 or 2 out of 30 tourist group members are from Ningbo”, said a member of staff of the China Youth Travel Service (CYTS) Ningbo. Although they send tourist groups to Hainan every 2 or 3 days, they have to pick up tourists in other cities due to the small number of local tourists.
There are no direct flights from Ningbo to Sanya in August this year, and the unpleasant traffic conditions hold back many Ningbo tourists from visiting. Meanwhile, the favorable price of international tourism makes Hainan tourism uncompetitive.
The hottest destinations for outbound tourism in Ningbo include the Jeju Island in South Korea, the Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
In addition, the visa-free policy of those destinations and the cheating scandals in Sanya are causing Sanya to lose its competitive edge.
