Hainan sees nearly RMB1.2b duty-free goods sold in H1 of 2012
Duty-free shopping in Hainan is enjoying increasingly popularity since the Hainan Duty Free Policy took effect on 20th April, 2012. Over the past six months, the total sales volume of two duty-free stores in Sanya and Haikou had already reached 1.186 billion yuan, statistics from Haikou’s customs revealed.
The Sanya store had sold more than 1.4 million duty-free products and the total sales volume reached 996 million yuan in the past six months.
A total of 454,000 items have been brought at Haikou Duty-free Store at Haikou Meilan Airport, with sales reaching over 19 million yuan.
Statistics also showed that the most popular duty-free items are cosmetics, watches, luggage and perfume, with the sales volume reaching 960 million yuan. The figure accounted for 80.5% of the total sales volume.
