According to the Hainan Development Holding Co., the phase-I project of the West Ring Railway is expected to start construction in September this year.

The West Ring Railway starts from Haikou in the north and stops at over 14 stations such as Chengmai, Lingao, Danzhou and Changjiang. The whole project is divided into two phases, namely, phase-1 project from the Sanya Station to the Phoenix Airport Station, and phase-II project from the Phoenix Airport Station to the Haikou Station.

On 7th July, the 344-kilometer long project with a total investment of RMB 27.1 billion received official approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). The vice president of the Hainan Development Holding Co. Gu Gang told a reporter that the phase-I project will start construction in September, and that this year’s investment is expected to reach RMB 360 million.

In addition, the phase-II expansion project of the Meilan Airport, with a total investment of RMB 13.0469 billion, is in full swing right now. The throughput of the Meilan Airport is expected to hit 30 million passengers by 2020.
