A sexually active 72-year-old woman who claims she still has periods was finally permitted to receive contraceptive injections from the family planning service center in Haikou, South China's Hainan Province.

Gu Jie (pseudonym) said she and her husband were happy they were able keep on doing what they'd enjoyed since marrying 42 years ago. It took her 17 days and many trips to various government agencies until she was finally given approval for the monthly injections on August 25.

"Our sex life was greatly affected during this time," Gu said. "We are glad it is back to normal. I am too old to have a baby, but still enjoy my husband."
